Thames Water
Pipe Work Fabrication & On-site Installation
Ivor pumping station borehole pump replacement
The client Thames Water had 6 borehole pumps which where 35m deep into the ground pumping fresh water from the ground to be treated and then fed into the mains water feed for the whole of Slough. Our job was to remove the existing pumps one by one and the 35m of pipework attached to pumps and replace them with new 1m diameter scotch coated steel pipe work 35m in length and new upgraded pumps. We first removed top drive pump using the buildings overhead crane and unbolting flanges. We then lifted pipe work out a section at a time in a lifting sequence agreed with the client. We then made some alterations to the pipe work at the top of well where the new pumps where to be installed. The new pipe was then lifted into well again a section at a time until all 35m was in the well. We then lowered new pumps into position and bolted up. Pipe work was pressure tested before use and once passed pumps where run and tested. Project was completed on time and to budget.
